Costa Rica Coffee | Costa Rican Coffee
Coffee from Costa Rica is as individual and vibrant as its mother country and boasts one of the most expensive coffee’s in the world today. With the first coffee plant imports from Ethiopia in the 1780’s, the Costa Rican coffee industry has evolved and grown into a fine producer of beans.
Unfortunately, due to the Coffee Rust fungus, the national production has declined rapidly over the last two seasons and is due to decline further for the 2015 season.
Regions such as Tres Rios, West Valley and Tarrazu are competing with world leaders such as Jamaican Blue Mountain and Sumatran Kopi Luwak.
Praised for the clean neutrality, these beans also impart berry and citrus notes along with roasted nut and chocolate flavours.
